MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We need to have an open dialog with you to plan our strategy on how to best support our local community and its members in response to the killing of George Floyd and current events.
We have made a decision to host an open forum every Monday and Friday from 3:00pm - 5:00pm PST (see details below)
Mini Series: RAW & UNCUT
Advocating for Social Justice & Equality
Microaggressions and How to become Culturally Responsive
We want to hear from YOU !!!!
Join us twice a week for an Open Forum where we encourage you to participate in a dialog around current events that affect you and your community.
"Inequalities and Injustices are real and have been for centuries! We must find peace within ourselves before we are able to bring peace to the world" We want to explore how we have been conditioned, what our biases are,how it has affected us and how we can move through it during current events while still advocating for social justice, equality and accountability from those in positions of power that influence our lives directly and indirectly.
African Americans have experienced the weight of being subjected to cultural biases that existed long before they entered this world. In this open forum, participants will examine, discuss, and challenge issues related to cultural differences; consider the difference between being culturally sensitive and culturally responsive; learn self-care tools that will help them care for themselves as they continue this process; and explore ways to abandon thoughts and actions that interfere with how we interact with each other.
Presenters will speak on a topic for 10-15 minutes and then the floor will be open for you to express yourselves. We welcome all of your comments, perspectives, feedback, questions and concerns...
Please share the below with your networks.
We will explore historical trauma of marginalized groups, how intergenerational and historical trauma has affected us and how we can move through it so we can experience peace within ourselves during current events while still advocating for social justice, equalities and accountability from those in positions of power that influence our lives directly and indirectly.

Regarding COVID-19
While we have to “Shelter in Place”, we also have to take personal responsibility for our mental, physical and emotional wellness. Thanks to technology, the internet, computers, we can continue moving forward by creating and achieving new goals that support our wellness.
In an effort to decrease anxiety, isolation and fear, we will provide daily online support groups to provide space for individuals to stay socially connected and engaged while practicing physical distancing.
As I’m sure you are all aware, things are changing at a rapid pace. We are remaining flexible as new developments are unfolding every day. Our mission statement is to provide continuous education and support regarding personal well-being and at this time we are open and available to our communities. We as a Board and an Organization are committed to offering a wide variety of on-line groups (zoom, web-ex and google hangouts) to provide opportunities for everyone to connect and be a part of a community.
If you are concerned about the quality of your life we would like to introduce you to an individualized system for monitoring and responding to uncomfortable feelings or behaviors.
Difficult feelings and behaviors are normal responses to traumatic circumstances to what is happening in your life and need not be minimized. Our goal is to help individuals and their supporters, family members and friends to develop strategies or action plans to deal more productively with these experiences.
Again, We will provide daily support via online groups to create mutual support so that individuals have a sense of being connected to a community. We will identify and put into action some strategies and techniques to balance, work, parenting, and recreational activities during this difficult time.
Join us as we explore how to recover wellness back into our lives during this challenging time.
